Michael Glenn Butler quietly slipped into eternal rest on Friday, January 27, 2023, at his home. Michael was born in Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, Virginia to the late William and Doreatha Butler. He graduated from Norview High School in Norfolk, followed by attendance at Norfolk State College. During his earlier years, he was a member at Oakwood Chapel Church of Christ. As an adult, Michael attended and worked driving church bus for Samaritan Outreach Ministry for many years. Michael's employment ranged from working in the field of Finance, Banking and Child Support Enforcement. Michael loved playing chess with friends and family members.  He also enjoyed cookouts and was extremely passionate about fishing. Michael leaves one son, Sheldon Whitaker, who resides in Georgia, Sister, Gale Midgette (Anthony) of Virginia Beach and Brother, Allen Bulter (Wanda) of Norfolk, Nephews, Larry Uzzle (Derona) of Seattle, Washington, Marcus Uzzle (Andrea) of Washington DC, Darnell Uzzle (Erica) of Chesapeake, Andre Butler, Alex Butler and Andrew Butler of Norfolk, Nieces, Danielle Foreman (Trent) of Virginia Beach and Taylor Pigram of New York, Special Aunts, Viola Warren (Lewis) of Norfolk and Thelma Bell of Philadelphia, PA, Special Cousins, Theophylis Artis and Barbara  Jackson, Special Friend Larry Uzzle Sr. and host of other relatives and friends.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.

Rest in Peace Michael.  We loved you, but God loved you best!
