With profound love, we celebrate the life of Zephyr Ledora Robinson, affectionately known as Gram, who was called home to eternal rest on Monday, March 17, 2025. Throughout her 98 years of life, Gram was a beacon of kindness, grace, and unwavering love. She embraced her family and community with a heart full of compassion, always offering her wisdom, warmth, and a nurturing spirit. Even in her final days, her love for those around her remained steadfast, a testament to the beautiful soul she was.
Born on October 27, 1926, to the late John and Margaret Scott, Gram was a proud graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She married her high school sweetheart, the late Thomas C. Robinson, and together they shared 44 wonderful years of marriage, building a strong foundation of love and faith. Their union brought forth six cherished children, through whom their legacy continues to flourish.
Gram dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant at DePaul Hospital before finding her true passion—nurturing children. She became a beloved caregiver at New Calvary Baptist Church's daycare, as well as in her own community, where countless families entrusted her with their little ones, knowing they would be met with love and devotion. Her home was always open to the neighborhood children, a place filled with warmth, laughter, and the smell of home-cooked meals. Whether it was a hot meal, a listening ear, or a safe place to play, Gram made sure every child felt loved. She also ran a daycare in her home, offering care and guidance to many children over the years, shaping young lives with patience, kindness, and unwavering love.
Faith was the cornerstone of Gram's life. A devoted member of Queen Street Baptist Church for an incredible 88 years, she was active in the Dorcus Club and selflessly gave her time to support the church daycare. She was also a missionary with the Sara Reynolds Club and a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star, recognized for her role as Esther. Her faith guided her every step and was the source of her immeasurable strength, generosity, and love for all.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas C. Robinson; her daughter, Cathy White; two grandchildren, Lloyd Hall and Pamela Price; and her seven brothers and two sisters.
Though Gram is no longer with us, her legacy lives on in the family she so dearly loved. She is survived by her devoted children; Thomasine Price (John) of Philadelphia, PA, Glenn Robinson (Elizabeth Martin) of Randallstown, MD, Brenda Hall (Lloyd) of Chesapeake, VA, Pamela Jones (McKinley) of Chesapeake, VA, and Lisa Whitehead (Anthony) of Virginia Beach, VA
Her love continues through her cherished grandchildren, Glenn Robinson, Michelle Floyd, Adrienne Phillip, John Price, Michael Robinson, McKinley Jones, Bryant Hall, Thomas Jones, Myron White, Cedric Jones, Ashley Robinson, Alycia Whitehead, Brandon Welch, and Adam Robinson.
She also leaves behind a beloved generation of great and great-great-grandchildren; Aiden, Alana, Anari, Ariel, Ava Marie, Bryant, Cienna, Elijah, Gabrielle, Gabrielle, Jamari, Jakai, Jakarri, Jasmine, Jayvion, Jeremiah, John, Journei, Kamille, Kameron, Kelsey, Kiara, Khamari, Kionna, Kyheir, LaRita, Leilani, Lamyra, Lauren, Lee, Marcelis, Macyn, MarKquis, Makenzie, Myleah, Myron III, Nyree, O'Shea, Raegan, Rikki, Roman, Saint, Seven, Shonchez, Siera, Tashara, Taylor, Tionne Jr., Tiyanni, Trinity, and Wallace. Her legacy of love extends to great-great-grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews, and her beloved
daughters- and sons-in-law: Katherine White, Myron White, and Charles Ruffin. She also held a special place in her heart for her dear cousins, Leonthia Avery, Stephanie Avery, Roberta Washington, and Shawntea Mill.
Gram's presence was a light in the lives of all who knew her. Her boundless kindness, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family will remain forever in our hearts. Though we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived—one filled with love, faith, and devotion to those she held dear.
Her spirit lives on in the generations she nurtured, the lessons she taught, and the love she so freely gave.
Rest well, Gram. Your love and legacy will never fade.
