Winston Tyrone Alexander, Jr. was born on November 22,1946 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to the late Freddie Mae Alexander and Winston Tyrone Alexander, Sr.

He received his early education in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and was a graduate of Townsend Park High School class of 1964. Winston was a great baseball player. Therefore, he received an athletic scholarship to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff where he received the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. After completing college, he enlisted in the United States Army for two and a half years. He received an honorable discharge.

Winston moved to Norfolk, Virginia and worked as a night supervisor with the Southeastern Virginia Training Center. After many years of service, he retired and continued to work and began providing transportation for individuals with special challenges for Just People Incorporated.

Winston met Donna Garnette in November of 1994. They began dating and attending Donna’s home church, The Historic First Baptist Church-Bute Street. He joined the church and often served as an honorary pallbearer. Winston and Donna married on July 29,1995 and remained married for thirty years. They enjoyed lots of happy days together. When life presented its challenges, they continued to support and love each other.

Winston loved to jog in the Poplar Halls neighborhood twice a day in his early years. He also loved to dance. He took pride in gardening when the family moved to Hunts Pointe in Virginia Beach. Winston was a quiet, kind, helpful, and fun-loving person.

Winston was predeceased by his two sisters, Julia Fredrika Alexander and Wanda Faye Buckingham. Those left to cherish his life are his wife Donna Garnette Alexander, two daughters, Ibtihaj Alexander and Harriet Garnette Alexander; A grandson Edward Lee Hunt, IV; A devoted and loving niece Karen Dickson (Carlton); A dedicated and devoted caregiver, Theresa White and a host of other relatives and friends.
