It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Jordan Fenwick on October 20, 2024. She was a cherished daughter, mother, sister, and friend, whose warmth, wisdom, and laughter enriched the lives of everyone around her.

Valerie was the daughter of the late Franklin T. Jordan, Sr. and Delores J. Purvis. She attended Indian River High School and Norfolk State University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Sociology and two Masters degrees in Urban Education and Urban Affairs. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ray T. Fenwick; son, Keshon J. Foote, Sr. and daughter-in-law Kia Bennett-Foote; daughter, Tiffanie F. Sammis and son-in-law Jay Sammis. Four grandchildren Amya Peterson, Keshon J. Foote, Jr., Kholin Foote, and Braylen Webb. With a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Valerie was a dedicated member of the financial institution. She served as a Teller Supervisor for both Bank of America and Southern Bank for over 25 years. Valerie also served as Strayer University's Financial Aid Consultant for several years. She was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority Incorporated. In her later years she enjoyed working in her yard and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

Though Valerie J. Fenwick may be gone from our sight, she will never be gone from our hearts. We carry with us the love, laughter, and wisdom she shared, knowing that she remains part of who we are and all we become. Valerie's memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church located at 5181 Singleton Way, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 at 10:00 am on October 31, 2024.
