In Loving Memory of Traci Kristen Selden
Traci Kristen Selden, cherished daughter of Thomas C. Selden and Patricia Selden-Black, gracefully entered the embrace of her Heavenly Father on November 14, 2023. She was born on August 21, 1976, and leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of her devoted Father and Mother, her beloved children, Breon, Kaylah, and Trey (Marvin Duke, III), as well as her loving sisters, Charita and Kimberly Selden. Traci is also survived by her niece, Bryana (Kendall), nephew Thomas, her Aunts Michelle and Diane, and Uncles Lewis and Freeman. Cousins Robert, LeKeya, Jeneen, Shena, Carlos, Lisa, Katina, Travis, Courtney, Brandon, Crystal, Cindy, Tori and many surviving second and third cousins. Plus, a bonus son Marcus Duke, bonus dad Joe, bonus sister and brother Crystal and Joseph, and dear friends Miki, Terrence, Sam, and Tiffany.
Traci, a proud native of the Kempsville area of Virginia Beach, was a distinguished graduate of Kempsville High School, where she excelled as an athlete. Later, she decided to continue her academic journey, earning an undergraduate degree with honors from ODU and a master's degree from George Mason University, maintaining her status as an honor student. Traci's passion for the youth and educating others led her to become a History teacher at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, VA, and Yorktown High School in Arlington, Virginia. She was also a licensed Realtor in Virginia and Maryland and contributed her talents as an HR Training Specialist/Program Manager at EEOC in the Washington, D.C.-Baltimore Area.
Remembered for her vibrant and energetic personality, Traci's beautiful smile illuminated the lives of those around her. Her love for family, musical talents, and fun-loving nature were the hallmarks of her character. As a wonderful daughter, Mother, Sister, and loyal friend, Traci was the coolest person we knew—a catalyst and motivating force that will forever inspire us. We will dearly miss the light of her presence and her profound impact on our lives.
