Obituary

Shameka (Meka ) Dianne Richardson went to be with the Lord on May 21, 2025, at 7:09 am in Sentara Leigh Hospital. She was born to Debra Richardson and Tony Boyd. Shameka graduated from Lake Taylor High School, Class of 2012. Meka was always eager to assist, when asked, no matter what the task was. Meka was a bubbly person, you could see her riding around in her wheelchair, crossing Johnstons Road or riding around the neighborhood. She didn't let the fact that she was an amputee slow her down. Meka enjoyed going out to eat and shopping. She made sure her apparel was matching, including her earrings and headgear. She was a former member of St. Paul C.M.E. Church under the leadership of Pastor Wooten. While attending, St. Paul, Meka was a CYF member, junior usher, and on the Kitchen Committee, and always willing to help, Meka was a prayer warrior for St. Paul C.M.E. Church. She recently became a member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lee. She worked with the youth, a member of the number 1 and 2 usher board. Meka also helped out in the kitchen. Meka was very well liked wherever she went. You can never really put into words, all the accomplishments that Meka made in her 32 years. She was a trooper and will be missed by everyone she came across, just a "loveable" person. She is now performing her duties in Heaven with the Lord.  Meka is survived by her mother, Debra Richardson, father, Tony Boyd, sister, Malika Richardson, brother, Wesley Richardson (Erica), nephews, Keshon, Breyon and Brandon, nieces, Monae', and Breanna, cousins, Billy and Willie and many loving relatives and friends. Also survived by her paternal grandfather and grandmother, Bishop Bobby and Betty Boyd, grandmother, Tressea Jefferson, uncle, Blane Boyd, aunts, Bineca Boys and Makishea Willis, sisters Denise and Shakeela and was predeceased in death by her brother Antonio Corprew.  A special thanks to the staff of EVMS, Therapy at Fort Norfolk and the Lymphedema Clinic, the nurses and doctors in the ICU unit, 3rd floor (Room 329) of Sentara Leigh and the staff on the 1st floor (Room 126) of Sentara Leigh and everyone that was constantly praying for Shameka. Also, the family would like to thank Riddick Funeral Service, Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church for all the support shown, and St. Paul C.M.E. Church members and Rev. Wooten who was faithfully at the hospital. Many thanks to everyone, Deacon Marion Jackson, Meka's godmother at Bank Street, and God-sister/friend, Felecia Hall. if your name wasn't mentioned, I apologize heartfully.
