Sandra Elizabeth McFarland, 80, of Chesapeake, VA, passed away on September 26, 2023, in Virginia Beach with loved ones by her side.

Sandra McFarland was born in Hartford, Ct to Ora Martin and Rosetta Martin-Woffard on June 18, 1943. She went to Hartford High School, in Hartford, Ct. She married John David McFarland on August 7, 1964, in Newark, NJ. Sandra graduated from Manchester Community College and worked at Alvin & Company, in Bloomfield, CT before relocating to Virginia. Her role as a Security Officer with Top Guard Security Inc. working at EVMS was one she was most proud of. In 2004, Sandra McFarland was featured in a newspaper article for that role highlighting retired seniors in the workforce.

Sandra McFarland was a long-time member of Shepherds Way Ministries in Chesapeake, Va, where she became a shining light full of love and encouragement to other members.

Ms. Sandra is what most called her, with her infectious laugh and no-nonsense attitude, she was a mom or grandmother to all and will truly be missed.

Sandra McFarland is preceded in death by father Ora Martin, Mother Rosetta Martin - Woffard, husband John D. McFarland, daughter Denise L. McFarland, son Robert A. McFarland, brothers Andrew Morris, Chester Woffard, Herbert Morris, brothers -in - law Jerry McFarland and Raymond McFarland, sisters - in - law Beverly Adams, Audrey McFarland, and Bertha McFarland.

She is survived by son Derrick and wife Carolyn McFarland, sister Juanita Teal of Norfolk, Va, brother John Martin of Hartford, Ct, step- daughter Janet Ball, stepson Tony McFarland of Detroit, MI, grandchildren Deon Richardson of Newport news, Va, LeDerrick and wife Tedria McFarland of Nashville, TN, and Dominique McFarland of Birmingham, AL, and niece Benita Teal of Hartford, Ct. A host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, friends and ones whose hearts she touched with her presence.
