We have known much grief and sorrow, but so much more happiness, joy and love as we recall the precious life of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, closest friend and confidant. Raymond was the second child born to the late Raymond Peele and Roxanna Peele on June 19, 1922 in Plymouth, North Carolina. On Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015 he departed this life peacefully in his house surrounded by love ones. His wife Ada, brother Herman Peele, father, mother son, Raymond Peele jr., and grandson Timothy Peele preceded him in death. Raymond attend school in Plymouth, North Carolina and entered the military and retired as a disabled veterans. Raymond's Military life brought him to Norfolk, Virginia where he met and subsequently married his beautiful bride of 68 years, Ada on August 29 1942. The union was blessed with six children, two of which died prematurely. After leaving the military Raymond continued his career in Civil Service. Upon retiring from the Naval Base Raymond began another career as a Bondsman. Raymond loved his family and his family loved him. We were taught that family is important and we must be there for one another at all times no matter the situation. Family, friends and acquaintances affectingly call him Big Raymond, Big Red, Pa- Pa, granddaddy, and "That's all Right." Raymond was noted for his green thumb. He cherished growing his greens in his garden and was known for raising the largest cucumbers around. Several cucumbers were actually 3 feet long. When visiting his home you often left with a bag of his collard greens from his garden. Raymond leaves behind his daughters Patricia Peele Wilkins and Yvonne Peele Wagner; a son, Richard Peele; grandsons Raymond Peele, III and Ronald Johnson; granddaughters, Jevone Whidbee(Felix), Jessica Wagner-Cowan(Matthew), Rayna Rainey, Rebecca Peele; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and a host a host of relatives and friends. Expression of Gratitude The Peele family expresses their deepest appreciation for all your prayers, condolences words of comfort flowers. A special thank you to Dr. Sherry Scheib and the Dedicated Care team; also a special thanks to the Sentara Hospice team for the outstanding services rendered.
