Rashad Lamar Whiley, lovingly known as Rocky, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 37 on November 25, 2024. Born in Harlem, New York city, New York, Rashad grew up in Norfolk, Virginia, and spent his final years in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Rashad was a beloved son, brother, father, partner, and friend. He is survived by his devoted mother, Teresa Clay; stepfather, Allen Clay; and siblings Brittany Ylanan (Venson), Jey'va Clay, Brandon Clay (Kristina), Tiana Clay, and Taijae Clay. He was a proud father to Jaylen Whiley and Jada Whiley. Rashad also leaves behind his cherished partner, Jasmine White; nephews Josiah Clay, Val Ylanan, and Venson Ylanan Jr.; nieces Tatiana Clay, Violet Ylanan, Seven Clay and Aria Clay; He will be deeply missed by his great-aunt Brenda McGee; aunts Lorrie Whiley, Arimentha Whiley, Deborah Whiley and Shantideva Clay (Richard); uncle Cecil Whiley; cousins: Cecil Whiley III, Joseph Whiley, Keith Whiley, Michelle McGee and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Jones; his grandparents, Cecil Whiley Sr, Radiah Clark, Delilah Jones and his uncle, Cecil Whiley Jr.

Rashad attended Norfolk Public Schools, where he formed lifelong friendships. His circle of friends expanded when he attended Ferrum College, where his love for football and music flourished. Rashad was a talented artist and often enjoyed singing along to his favorite band, The Temptations.

In his free time, Rashad loved playing basketball with his brother Brandon, cooking, enjoying music, and spending quality time with his friends and family. His vibrant spirit and unwavering support for his loved ones left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Known as a gentle giant, Rashad was always willing to lend a helping hand, often giving the shirt off his back to someone in need. He had a remarkable ability to make others laugh and was a steadfast champion for those he cared about. Never one to shy away from expressing his thoughts, Rashad balanced honesty with an incredible kindness that endeared him to everyone who knew him.

While our family mourns the loss of Rashad, we also celebrate that he rededicated his life to Christ in January of 2024. He will forever be remembered for his big heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for those around him.
