Patricia Ann Crawford (affectionately known as "Pat) was born in Norfolk, VA on December
20, 1937 to the late Catherine & Thomas W. Nesbitt. Pat went to be with the Lord on January 12,
2021 from her home in Virginia Beach, VA. She was lovingly surrounded by family members,
continually by her side, until the moment she slipped away. This ended a continuing battle with
health issues which she endured with strength, grace and a dry wit to the end.
Pat graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. She immediately married the love of her life,
the late Andrew Donald (Donnie) Crawford, Sr., who came for her like a "knight in shining armor,
clad in his U.S. Marine Corps uniform." She followed him back to his hometown, Buffalo, NY, where
they began their new life together. To this union the Creator delivered four children: Alecia,
Patrice, Andrew Jr. and Purnell.
Pat and Donnie moved back to Virginia after retirement, where Pat was able to share the rest of her
years with her first family and childhood friends. She loved the Lord. Her love and dedication to
her family was a testament to that. Her hobbies included solving puzzles (crossword and jigsaw),
crocheting, and she enjoyed her beautiful doll collection. She also enjoyed bowling,
board games and watching her favorite cooking shows. Most of all, she enjoyed basking in the love
of her family. Each new grand child and great-grand child was a true treasure.
Pat is best remembered for her warm smile, and gentle spirit. Her beautiful smile would fill up a
room and her gentle spirit made her unforgettable. She took pride in ensuring the care of her
family. Her late husband considered her a valued treasure and her children consider her a pure
blessing from God.
Pat is preceeded by her husband, Andrew Sr., her daughter Patrice and granddaughter Aleyona. Her
legacy will live on in her three children; Alecia (Eric), Andrew, Jr. (Lisa) and Purnell (Tamara),
four sisters, thirteen grand children, twenty three great-grand children and a host of nieces,
nephews, relatives and friends.
