Mother Margaret l. Clark Dowling was escorted lovingly to her heavenly home. She was born October 13, 1926 in Columbia, SC to the late John and Pauline Clark. She was educated and graduated from Booker T. Washington. She received Christ at an early age and was a chosen missionary for Christ.
Mother Dowling joined St. Mary's Pentecostal Holiness Church in the late 50's. She served as a missionary, church secretary, trustee and Church mother. She served faithfully and attended all services until her health would not allow her to do so.
Mother Dowling was a true ambassador for the sake of Jesus Christ to all she came in contact with. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and prayer warrior. She forever stood on his promises knowing the He never leaves or forsakes you.
The story of her life with her beloved husband, Joseph E. Dowling S., began with a chance meeting and introduction by her brother David and they celebrated a Christmas wedding in December of 1946. She was a mother to many children and was lovingly known as Nanny. No matter her age in her later years where most experience getting gray hair, she was the exception and was always asked if she dyed hers, because even at the glorious age of 95 she still had beautiful salt-n-pepper hair. She is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Ernest Dowling Sr., and four children, Marion Dowling, Sandra Brooks, Kenneth Dowling, and Joseph Dowling. Sisters Rosa Hollis, Henretta Green, Sussie Brown, Rebecca Felters, Thelma Matthews, and brother John Clark Jr. She leaves to mourn: Siblings, David Clark, Thomasina Means and Bernette Salley, Children: Paulette Dowling, JoAnn Williams, Marguarite Dowling, M. Lesa Smith, twenty-seven grand-children, fifty-one great grand- children, thirty-six great great grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
