IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Madeline M.
Hall
March 31, 1930 – May 20, 2017
On Saturday morning, May 20, 2017, Madeline Milbourne Hall departed this life in her home with her husband of 43 years, Earl Hall, by her side. She was 87 years old.
Madeline was the daughter of the late Charles Milbourne and Elsie Milbourne Marks. A sister, Elizabeth M. Hayes and brother, John Edward Milbourne predeceased her.
Besides her husband, Madeline is survived by her brother, William Marks (Sandra) of Babylon, N.Y., and many cousins and close friends.
Madeline attended public schools in Washington, DC (her early years) and in Norfolk. She was a 1948 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School.
She retired from the position of school traffic guard after more than 30 years.
Madeline was a devout member of Woodland Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member of Usher Board Number 2. Having been a member of the church since its beginning, she was the founder of three of the church's usher boards: The Junior ushers, Usher Board number 2, and the Male Usher Board. Madeline spearheaded numerous projects given by the combined usher boards that led to the improvement and growth of the church. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 84: 10b: "I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness." This scripture is used by many usher boards as their motto.
Mrs. Hall will be sorely missed, for she was known for generously giving to the youth of the church, and for sending greeting cards to the sick, shut-in and family and friends. She was also known for her cheerful and uplifting phone calls.
