On September 3 rd at 9:37a.m. God Heard and Answered a cry from one of his children. His pain stopped and our pain began. On that morning Lionel Lewis drew his last breath in the arms of his baby girl. Lionel was born in Orange, New Jersey, but was raised by his aunt and uncle the late David and Willie Henning of Norfolk, Virginia. He was a son, brother, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, and a great grand father. As a young man Lionel served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He loved their motto "Semper Fidelis" Do or Die" to the fullest. Upon his return from the war Lionel worked as a truck driver for C.E. Thurston and Lone Star Industries of Norfolk, Virginia. Lionel later relocated back to New Jersey, where he worked for Harrison Alloys Inc. as a wire operator. Anyone that knew Lionel would find a friend willing to help out in anyway that he could. He enjoyed life with laughter. You have left us all with special memories that will have an everlasting place in our hearts. God heard your cry but he also  know our pain that you are no longer here with us. We can take comfort in knowing, we will be together again. Until then, Love you, Always and Forever!

The family of the late Lionel Lewis expresses their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Rachel Paul of the Hampton VA Medical Center, and the Freda H. Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care.
