IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leona Mae
Nesbitt- Jones
June 10, 1932 – April 3, 2021
Leona Jones affectionately known as "Lee" was born on June 10, 1932 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Thomas and Catherine Nesbitt. Leona was called to sleep on April 3, 2021 after a lengthy illness. Leona received her education at the Bethel Adventist Church School until she entered and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Leona had thoughts of becoming a tractor trailer driver but retired as a bus driver for the Norfolk Public School System where she received numerous safe driving awards. With a passion for driving she was called "The Road Runner" because she'd go beyond her call of duty driving around neighbors, family and friends. Leona was married to the late McKinley Jones Sr. and from that union five sons were born. Leona became a member of the Campostella Heights SDA Church where she served as church clerk, a kindergarten teacher assistant in the Sabbath School Jr. Department, as a pianist in the music department, and a member of the Prison Ministry Team where she also served as the driver. For several years she also served as pianist, organist and choir director for the First Baptist Church of Money Point located in Chesapeake, VA. She leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Thomas (Ophelia), McKinley Jr. (Pamela) Kenneth, Andre (Veronica) eighteen grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, three sisters, Catherine, Thomasine and Wilhelmina and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Leon, and her sister Patricia
