A life we love came to a close on October 15, 2023. Lee was born May 25, 1941, to the late Lee Sawyer and Fannie Claiborne Sawyer.  He was the only son born to this union that grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1960 he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He later became gainfully employed by the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Virginia. He was a dedicated SHOP 41 boilermaker employee for 41 years until his retirement. Lee loved the life fellowship with Norfolk State University and Booker T. Washington High School. He was a life member of Norfolk State University Athletic Foundation and Booker T. Washington Friends and Alumni Foundation, Inc. He was member of the Spartan Army and "The Lunch Bunch". Lee was a faithful lifelong member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served on Men's Ministry, Food Pantry Ministry, Clothes Closet Ministry, Kitchen Ministry and the Men's Usher Board. Lee is preceded in death by his parents Lee Sawyer and Fannie Sawyer, his wife Celestine White-Sawyer and grandson, Lee G. Sawyer.   He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Michelle, his grandchildren are Rashawn Emmanuel, Celestine Jacqueline, and Diamond LeeShay. Lee also leaves behind to cherish his legacy a host of other relatives and friends.
