Mrs. Lanice Reynolds was born in Norfolk, VA. She was a daughter of the late Oscar and Connie Lee Jernigan on May 20, 1935. She was granted her angel wings on September 4, 2020, at home, surrounded by love ones. She was 85 years old. She was a faithful wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She was a member of Faith Deliverance COGIC.
She is preceded in death by her late husband John Thomas Reynolds and siblings Melvin Godfrey, Theodore Jernigan, Hermeen Ricks, Bernard Jernigan, William Jernigan, Louise Cradle, Connie Lee Moore, Floyd Jernigan and Evelyn Sharpe. A son Warren S. Jernigan Sr. and a daughter Denise Jernigan.
Lanice leaves behind to mourn her passing, her three sisters Ruth Whitney, Rebecca Smith and Ellen Williams. Her seven children Anthony B. Jernigan Sr., Wayne C. Jernigan Sr., Elaine Mattox, Leon Jernigan, Jonathan Jernigan, Fletcher Jernigan, Michael Reynolds, a devoted grandson LaQuea Cason who resided with her. A lot of Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
Lanice love reading her bible and praising the Lord. She enjoyed doing Arts and Crafts. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, word puzzles, listening to music and cooking. Despite her life family she always made time for everyone she enjoy entertaining family and friends while preparing a full course meal. What made her happy was spending time with all of her grandchildren, providing support, encouragement and love for her family. But most of all she loved the Lord.
Lanice was not afraid of hard work. She worked tirelessly as a domestic worker to provide opportunities for her children. She was very proud of all of them.
Though Lanice health were failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggle. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain
When Lanice completed her journey on earth she was surrounded by love and warmth. In her last few weeks she spent quality time with her family members who would sometimes stay over. She loved quietly and always had a smile on her face when family and friends stopped in to visit.
" His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."
