Mr. Julian Cyne Bartee, Jr. was born on August 8 th , 1943 in Roanoke, Virginia. He was the eldest son of the late Julian Cyne, Sr and Vera Belle Bartee. He departed this life on November 14, 2021 after a short stay at Autumn Care Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Julian graduated from Montclair High School in Montclair, N.J. After high school he attended the Jersey City Technical Institute in Bayonne, New Jersey receiving a diploma in Electrical Technology. He then attended Newark College of Engineering in Newark, New Jersey until he joined the Army where he served in the US Army Security Agency as a communications specialist participating in activities both stateside and abroad.
Following his service in the military, Julian began working for American Smelting and Refinery Company in Newark, New Jersey as a Foreman for Plant Operations, then for Western Union Telegraph Company, where he used his skills in telecommunications to support and maintain network devices for multiple businesses. Julian relocated to Virginia with his wife Myrna and eventually retired after working as a provisioning specialist at Cox Communications in Virginia.
As a young man, Julian was a dependable brother and positive role model for his brothers Everett, Linwood and his sister Jean. After the passing of his father, he became an adviser and a pillar of strength for his mother Vera. He was a loving father and a dedicated husband to his wife Myrna serving as her care giver through a long illness.
Known as "Junie" to his family and friends, Julian always maintained a calming presence. He enjoyed listening to Jazz, playing chess, and exemplified a low-stress lifestyle for both him and others. Even in illness, Julian was an example of resolute strength.
Julian was preceded in life by his late wife Myrna Holmes Bartee, brother Everett Vaughn Bartee, and his sister Gloria Jean Bartee-Dye. Julian leaves to mourn his brother Linwood Lloyd Bartee, his sister in-law Deborah Smalls-Bartee, his daughter Mercedes A. Bartee, son Marc A. Bartee, step-daughters Sheila Miner and Leslie Fitzsimmons-Lewis and step-son Mark H. Porter, as well as several grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and a host of family and friends.
