Schofield
June 24, 1941 – March 12, 2026
Josephine Williams Schofield (Joe) was born on June 24,1941 to the late Jame E. and Cordelia McCoy Williams in Norfolk, VA. Joe received her education from Norfolk Public School and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Joe was predeceased by all her siblings, one brother James E. Williams Jr, two sisters Jacquelin Williams Edmondson and Georgia Williams Yancey.
On Thursday March 12, 2026, Joe closed her eyes and laid her soul to rest in the arms of her Heavenly Father at Chesapeake General Hospital Chesapeake, VA. To the end Joe fought a good fight and was determine that she was not going to let anything get her down, but now Joe is basking in the sunshine of the glory of God.
On August 29, 1970, Josephine was united in holy matrimony with Taylor Schofield (Sr.) and for 55 years they shared many happy moments together. For many years Joe and Taylor lived and worked in Long Island NY until they both retired in 1997 and relocated to Virginia Beach, VA. Joe and Taylor both joined Piney Grove Baptist Church after relocating to Virginia Beach, VA and she serve faithfully until her illness. One day Joe was sitting outside enjoying the fresh air and sunlight on her back porch and saw a snake and she told Taylor they had to move and they relocated to Chesapeake, VA.
Joe leaves behind in God’s care her husband for 55 years, Taylor Schofield (Sr.), one son Taylor Schofield (Jr.) of Chesapeake VA, one stepdaughter Aquita Smith (Aleix) of Richmond, VA. Two grandchildren, Shannlyn and Steven, and one great grandson Shadda and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Joe has left a big footprint in our hearts, and she will be missed, but there is comfort in knowing that she is no longer in pain and she is now resting in the arms of God.
