Joseph Leon Williams Sr. was born on January 1, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lillian Williams. Joseph is known by many names, Mr. Joe, Joseph, Cousin Joe, Uncle Joe or just plain Joe. Joseph's parents separated when he was very young forcing his return to Florida with his mother where they remained with extended family until he became six years old. Lillian left Florida with young Joseph to live with her mother and siblings in Philadelphia. Joe attended elementary, junior high and high school in Philadelphia, graduating from Overbrook High School in 1957. Joe moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 1997 with his lovely wife Ernestine and their son Joseph, Jr. Joe served in the Marine Corp Reserve for two years, later working for the US Postal Service, in Philadelphia and Norfolk. He also worked for the United Food Service Companies of Pennsylvania and the Coca-Cola Company as a tractor trailer driver until his retirement in 1997. Joseph continued to work after retirement at Taylor's Do It Center in Norfolk, Virginia until his death on March 21, 2019. Joe was an adamant Bible and poetry reader. He bowled weekly with his team at the AMF Bowling Lanes in Norfolk, Virginia, winning many championships in various divisions . Some of his other leisure activities included playing chess, fishing, gardening, bird watching, visiting new places to eat, waiting for crab season to start, along with getting his many wins from the VA Lottery. Joe is survived by his loving wife and companion of 40 years, Ernestine, sons Joseph, Jr., Bernard (Tiffany) daughter Linda(Robert) three grandchildren and one great grandchild. His kind and loving ways towards all will be missed by his family members, friends and all who ever knew him
