Joseph Priester was born in Aiken, South Carolina, just outside of Augusta, Georgia, to Rosa Mae Williams.

He joined the Navy in 1967 and embarked on a 28-year journey, traveling the world and fighting in both the Vietnam War and Gulf War. During his tenure, he was able to achieve many accolades, and eventually obtained a Chief Petty Officer ranking before retiring in 1995.

Settling into Norfolk, Virginia, Joseph went on to dedicate over 10 years to the City of Norfolk, working as the head of security for the Norfolk Zoological Park.

He later became a faithful member of the Norview Kingdom Hall and dedicated his life to being a loyal servant of Jehovah. In his downtime, he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed cooking and spending time with family.

Joseph made his transition to eternal rest on August 27, 2024. He was preceded in death by his daughter Venus, wife Malinda, and sister Laura. He is survived by daughter Janae, three grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He is loved immensely and will be missed dearly.
