Jerome Lasalle Payne, a devoted family man and a loyal employee, passed away on May 2, 2026, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Born on April 9, 1979, in Norfolk, Virginia, Jerome lived a life marked by dedication, intelligence, and a deep love for his family, especially his cherished son.

Jerome was known among those who knew him as an intelligent and family-oriented individual. He had a passion for sports, enjoying football, baseball, basketball, and hockey with equal enthusiasm. An avid sports bettor, Jerome combined his love for the games with a hopeful spirit each season. Beyond his interest in athletics, he was an enthusiastic watcher of Jeopardy, admiring the challenge and intellect of the show. In the kitchen, Jerome was a passionate cook whose favorite dishes included turkey wings, fish, shrimp, and delightful chips and cakes, which he prepared with care and pride.

Professionally, Jerome was a dedicated and hard worker, noted for his loyalty to Target where he built a respected career through commitment and diligence. His coworkers and friends admired his strong work ethic and his warm, approachable nature.

Jerome’s family meant the world to him, and he loved his son with all his heart, placing family at the center of his life’s priorities. The bond they shared was a testament to his nurturing character and unwavering devotion.

Friends, family, and all who knew Jerome are invited to honor his memory during visitation on May 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Riddick Funeral Service, located at 1225 Norview Ave, Norfolk, VA 23513. A memorial service will follow on May 16, 2026, beginning at 11:00 AM and concluding by noon at the same location.
