The family of Jamila, requests that if you send flowers, or your clothing on the day of the memorial service, let it be

PURPLE.

Jamila Alize' Nicholson ascended to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Jamila was born on January 20, 1999. She was the beloved daughter of Marshall D. Nicholson (Father) and Latoya B. Tidwell-Bass (Mother), and the cherished bonus daughter of Miranda L. Nicholson (Marshall's wife). Jamila was the oldest of four siblings: Justin I. Ruiz (21 years old, brother, Z'Naia B. Bass (18 years old, sister) JulieAna A. Bass (16 years old, sister) and Braelin E. Bass, 16 years old, brother.  One thing that Jamila never stood for was anyone speaking negatively about her siblings. She always defended her family fiercely, no matter what.

Jamila was a strong, remarkable, and independent woman. Raised in Norfolk, VA, she graduated from Norview High School in 2018, where she enjoyed being a cheerleader during her last two years. Upon entering adulthood, she truly excelled in establishing her own brand. Moving to Florida in 2021, she embraced her entrepreneurial spirit and began making a name for herself. Known by some as Jamila and others as Drako, she gained recognition across the United States—from California to New York to Florida. She appeared in recording videos with famous music artists, on television shows such as Blue Girls Club TV, and even wrote and performed her own songs live in Miami, Florida.

Jamila was always known for her generosity, often helping others whether she had the resources or not. Her kindness extended beyond humans to animals as well. She was known for rescuing a lost turtle, a kitten in distress, or even taking in yet another cat. Jamila had an intense love for animals, especially cats. She cared for four cats: Dyme, Kookie, Menace, and Spice. Her family used to tease her that she would one day have a house full of cats and become the "cat lady." Her door was always open to animals, and she aspired to become a certified veterinary nurse to further her passion.

Jamila was deeply passionate about her spirituality, expressing it through astrology, numerology, and her faith in God. Her father instilled a strong Christian foundation, helping Jamila discover God in her own way. She truly loved the Lord. The bond between Jamila and her father exemplified the essence of a "daddy's girl." There was nothing she couldn't talk to her father about. From a young age, she asked countless questions, evolving from the typical toddler "why" questions to more complex adult life inquiries. Jamila always knew her father loved her unconditionally. Her father ensured she felt his support, even from afar, whether by giving her his last hamburger because she was still hungry or his last dollar.

The world is truly a sadder place without Jamila. She touched each of our lives and left us with cherished memories. Thank you for being a part of our lives, Jamila. We will all miss you dearly
