Jacquelyne "Jackie" Elizabeth

In Loving Memory of Jacquelyne “Jackie” Elizabeth Lamb
Jacquelyne “Jackie” Elizabeth Lamb, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, faithful servant, and woman of God, was born on July 23, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Mary Bell Lowery and Joseph Riddick. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jackie was educated through the Norfolk Public School System. She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her husband, Archie L. Armstrong; her children, Carolyn Porter (Darryl), Ernest Wilkins (Keyosha), and Emmett Lamb; and her stepchildren, Victor and Sedhari. She was a cherished grandmother to Darryl Jr., Aaron (Jasmine), Ciarra (Phillip), Joseph , Shanica, Bryana, and Sherrale (Kendall). Her legacy continues through ten great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who were blessed to know and love her.
A Life of Dedication and Service
In 1977, Jackie began her career with the City of Chesapeake as a Custodian. Her first assignment was at the City’s Public Library. Over the course of her distinguished career, she served in numerous City facilities, including the Finance Department, Police Department, City Hall, and Chesapeake Social Services.
Jackie did not simply perform her job—she took tremendous pride in it. She cleaned every facility with the same care, attention, and love that she would give her own home. Her work ethic, dedication, kindness, and genuine spirit touched the lives of countless people throughout the City of Chesapeake. She was deeply loved and respected by those who had the privilege of working alongside her and those who simply encountered her warm and caring presence. After 36 years of dedicated service, Jackie retired in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, commitment, and love.
A Woman of Faith: Jackie’s greatest love, however, was her relationship with the Lord.
For more than 50 years, Jackie was a faithful member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she served in various capacities throughout the years. She was a devoted member and leader who served as President of the Senior Choir, participated on the Hospitality Committee, and faithfully supported the church beautification ministry.
Jackie also took special pride in caring for the church and its pastor. Among her many acts of service was the responsibility of cleaning the Pastor’s office—a duty she took very seriously. Her service was not merely an obligation; it was an expression of her love for God, her church, and her church family. Jackie loved her church family dearly. Before her illness, she could be found in church every Sunday, giving God the glory and lifting up her pastor. Her faith was not something she simply spoke about—it was something she lived.
Jackie was a devoted wife, a praying mother, a loving grandmother, and an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved her family deeply, and to Jackie, family was everything. She prayed for them, encouraged them, celebrated them, and loved them with her whole heart. She leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, love, perseverance, family, and praise.
Though her earthly voice has been silenced, the testimony of her life continues to speak. The love she gave will live on in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
Jackie fought a good fight, she finished her course, and she kept the faith.
Her work here on earth is complete, but her legacy will continue through the generations she loved so dearly.
Rest well, Jackie. Your labor of love is over. Your service is complete. Your praise has become eternal.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
