On Friday, March 13, 2020, Isaac James Davis, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at age 80. Isaac was born on July 15, 1939 in Norfolk, VA to John and Velma (Johnson) Davis. He received his High School diploma in 1957, from Booker T. Washington School where he played the trombone in the marching band. On November 26, 1961, he married his soulmate, Catherine Jeanette Nesbitt. Together they raised two son and two daughters. Isaac was known for his hard work and his pride in providing for his family. He truly loved his family, both immediate and extended. To him, family was everything! Isaac had a passion for fixing cars and tinkering with computers. He also loved to play the piano. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Over the course of his life he worked for the USPS, Carolina Trailways , BFI, WMI, Old Dominion Industries, and BTT. He is predeceased by his eldest son Michael and survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years; Catherine, his three children. Velma (Robert Sr.) Gordon (Yolanda), Robin (Kenneth), and Brenda (daughter-in-law), his sisters Florence (Scott) Jane and Alexina, his grandchildren Robert Jr. (Courtney), Fahren, Christopher, Ariana, Khari, Nicholas, Gabriella and Noelani, his cousins, nieces, nephews, and his canine son, Cuddles.
Due to the COVID-19 virus the family has decided to have a private ceremony of immediate family only. A public celebration of life will be held at a later date.
