Gwendolyn Marie Dailey, born September 15, 1958, in Bertie County, North Carolina, transitioned peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA. Gwen, as she was lovingly called, was a woman of grace, intellect, and unwavering ambition. She dedicated her life to serving others through health care and education. In 1999, she founded Dailey's Healthcare Inc., a nurse aide training school that helped certify and launch the careers of aspiring CNAs, PCAs, and caregivers across Virginia. Her passion for healthcare extended beyond the classroom—Gwen was a firm believer in hands-on care and community outreach. In 2020, she achieved one of her greatest personal milestones by earning her Doctorate in Nursing, proving that learning and growth never end—no matter the age. Throughout her life, Gwen was focused, visionary, and fiercely independent. She raised her children with purpose and instilled values of hard work, education, and self-reliance. She was a proud businesswoman, a teacher, and a quiet force behind many people's success stories. Gwendolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Dailey and Lillie M. Britt, her brothers, Godfrey and Dexter Dailey and other close loved ones. She is survived by her children, Renata Dailey and Larry Hughes, six grandchildren to cherish her memory, Miata, JaVaria, India, Aleeka, Larraya and Kyrie and a special great grand, Emari, an extended family, former students, and countless individuals she inspired over the years. Her memory will live on through the lives she touched, the legacy she built, and the businesses she nurtured—especially the ones continuing to serve the community in her honor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in support of ongoing efforts to continue Gwen's legacy through education, healthcare, and empowerment programs under Dailey's Healthcare Inc.
