On June 30, 1955, Greg was born to the union of Gertie Johnson Underwood and Roy Theldon Underwood. As a young man Greg had a strong determination to "make a difference." After Greg's graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force. Four years later, he enrolled at Fayetteville State University and joined the Air Force ROTC. We don't know what prompted Greg to think of law school, but he applied and was accepted at UNC Chapel Hill. In March 2009, Greg was sworn in as the first Black Commonwealth's Attorney in Norfolk history. His legacy lives on. Greg was later predeceased by his father, Roy Underwood, mother, Gertie Underwood Richard, and stepfather, Redge Richard. Left to cherish the good times are his wife Gracie, daughter, Kisa and son, Rick. Greg loved his family, but his granddaughter Shapria, grandson William, and great grandsons Blake, Chase, and Ryan all owned special places in his heart. He also left his siblings: Horace (Ruby), Levi (Deborah), Roy (Shirley), Eunice (Delaney), Delois (Carl), Renee (Quincey), and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins, memories to cherish for a lifetime. His special friends, John, Elmore, and Eddie were always there for him. Greg lived life to the fullest and no matter what came his way, his mantra was to "Keep It Moving!" We love you Greg and we'll see you again on the other side.
