Ettisha Faye (Barfield) Goode was born on August 22, 1946, in Kinston, NC, and transitioned to be with the Lord on March 8, 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, Sarah Daugherty and George Barfield, Jr.

Ettisha graduated from the historic Adkin Senior High School in Kinston, NC, class of 1964, an all-African American high school. She attended Elizabeth City State University and worked for over 20 years for the Board of Education in New London, Connecticut as a school secretary. Ettisha was a dedicated member of The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception for many years. Also, she enjoyed designing flower gardens and landscaping. Over the years, she often won "Yard of the month" in her neighborhood. She loved attending her family reunions, writing poetry and dance classes.  Ettisha KNEW every line-dance in the book.

To cherish her memory, Ettisha leaves her husband of more than 50 years, Jonathan C. Goode, daughters Francina R. Harrison (Tonnie George), Shawna K. Goode, and Paula N. Goode; siblings William Barfield (Deola), Shirley Barfield Gillis (Harvey, deceased), Joyce Barfield Graham (Fred), Angela Barfield Bremby (Kevin), George Barfield, II.; grandchildren, Nehemiah L. Harrison (Breotnie), To'Niah E. Harrison, Ava Grantham, Aaliya Grantham; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 25, 2021, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at Riddick Funeral Service, 1225 Norview Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23513. Catholic Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021, 12:00 noon at The Basilica of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception, located at 232 Chapel Street, Norfolk, VA 23504.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made "in memory of Ettisha Goode" to the church by mail or online .  Current COVID 19 protocols are in place.
