On May 9, 2014 God in his infinite wisdom, called Ernest Goodman White, Jr. to be with him. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and close friends. He was born on March 13, 1950 to Ernest Goodman White and the late Doris Lee White of Norfolk, Virginia. Known as "Chi Chi" to childhood friends, he grew up in the Moton Park section of Norfolk. Ernest was a 1968 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. He attended Norfolk State University. He served in the United States Army as a Parachute Specialist for 2 years. After 37 years of diligent service with the federal government, Ernest retired from the US Postal Service in 2013. An active part of his community he coached a little league baseball team. Additionally, he was an active member of the Eva Gardens civic league. Upon surrendering his life to Christ in 2003, he joined First Baptist Church Bute Street of Norfolk, VA. Involved in church ministries, he served on the Male Usher Board and Love Usher Board. He leaves many to cherish his memory, a daughter, Katrina E. White and two sons, Rashad and Terrell, a sister, Ernestine W. Williams and other relatives and friends, including an aunt, Brenda Pitt, Brenda Jenkins and Ellery Poole, special friends. Ernest will be sincerely missed and eternally remembered by all whose lives he touched.
