Eric Thomas Smith, the eldest son of the late James and Vivian Smith, was born on September 20, 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia. On Monday, January 18, 2021, Eric ascended to his place of eternal rest.

Eric attended Norfolk Public School system. In 1968, he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corps (USMC) where he served one tour of duty in the Vietnam War.  Once, Eric was honorably discharged from the USMC he began working for various employers including Commonwealth Moving and Storage where he retired in 2015. Wanting to keep busy during retirement, he returned back to work part time where he touched the lives of countless supervisors, co-workers, and customers.

In addition to his outstanding professional contributions, Eric's favorite past time was watching sports and listening to Aretha Franklin.

Eric leaves to cherish his memories to his brothers Daryl (Cheryl) of Washington, DC, Michael (Bernadine) of Hanover, MD; sisters Yvette of Norfolk, VA, Myra of Norfolk, VA, Muriel of Norfolk, VA; hosts of nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, other relatives, and friends. Eric was loved by all who knew him. Eric will be missed by all who loved him.
