Earl Hall, beloved retired truck driver, departed this life on December 14, 2025, in Goldsboro, North Carolina, at the age of 89. Born on May 30, 1936, in Wayne County, North Carolina, to the late Thelma Odell Hall and Earl Thompson. Earl led a life filled with hard work, warmth, and a profound love for his family.
For over 30 years, Earl dedicated his career to driving trucks, traversing the highways with a steady hand and an adventurous spirit. Known for his reliable nature and strong work ethic, he made lasting friendships along the way, earning respect from colleagues and clients alike.
Earl was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the quieter moments of life. He loved watching westerns, which allowed him to escape into thrilling stories of courage and camaraderie. Additionally, he found delight in listening to country music, embracing melodies that often mirrored the experiences of everyday life.
He is survived by his children: Carolyn Cobb, Linwood Earl Hall, and Lula Anthony. His legacy extends through nine grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren, each one carrying forward the values of kindness, resilience, and love that Earl instilled in them.
Earl was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Madeline Hall, and his son, Donnell Hall. Their absence is felt deeply, yet their memories will forever remain cherished among family and friends.
A visitation in honor of Earl Hall will be held on December 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Riddick Funeral Service, located at 1225 Norview Ave, Norfolk, VA. The funeral service will take place the following day at the same location, starting at 12:00 PM and concluding at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 1:30 PM.
Earl Hall’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His warmth, humor, and steadfast spirit will be dearly missed.
