Denise Yvonne Mix peacefully slipped into eternal life with her Heavenly Father during the early morning hours of Thursday March 6, 2025, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after battling an illness. Denise attended Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia. Denis took pride in caring for others and this was exhibited in her dedicated work as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 25+ years. Denise LOVED listening to her "Oldies but Goodies" and two of her favorites were Aretha Franklin and Betty Wright. She loved traveling back to New York where she was raised, to visit family. Those who knew Denise knew that she was a very straightforward and vocal person. She said what she meant and meant what she said!! Denise will truly be missed by those who loved her. Densie was predeceased by her mother, Virginia Mae Downey and grandmother Hattie Mae Mix. Denise leaves to cherish her memories, one and only son, Melvin Mix, grandson Sha-Mel Jones (Kimora), her first great grandson who is due to enter this world in June 2025 and she was so excited to meet, her loving aunt Shirley Green, and a host of other family members and friends.
