Clyde Turner (Clyde), native of Capron Virginia, was born on April 12, 1933, to the union of McKinley and Erlean Turner. He was the third of ten children and was a family man who loved God, his family, and people! He was a happy, jubilant person who more than anything loved the Lord. Clyde gave his life to Christ in 1968 and would quickly tell you that giving his life to Christ was the best decision that he ever made in his life. He was committed to God and faithfully served the Church of God in Christ for more than 50 years. He was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Dr. Waddee Thoroughgood, where he faithfully served as a Deacon and Usher.

Clyde was also a family man.  He was married to Joyce Holloman Turner for more than 68 years, and they were blessed with five children. Clyde enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, siblings, and friends. He often talked about the life lessons he learned from his deceased parents, McKinley and Erlean Turner, who taught him the value of hard work and most importantly, the value of building a strong relationship with God and with family. And even until the day he went home to be with the Lord, December 31, 2022, he savored every minute that he spent with his family celebrating special events or just talking about the goodness of the Lord at one of his favorite places, Golden Corral!

Clyde relocated to Norfolk VA to join his older brother, Hoover Turner, for what he considered the big city. The "country boy" as he would often call himself, wanted more than the farm could offer. Always a hard worker, he started out digging ditches, selling vegetables, and doing whatever he needed to do to make an honest living.  Later, he found a job with Colonial Stores and worked for them as a truck driver for more than 18 years.  While working at Colonial Stores, he also used his magnetic personality to sell encyclopedias for World Book where he became one of their regional managers. He did all this while investing in real estate "on the side". As time passed and as God continued to bless, he decided that it was time to become a full-time real estate investor and property manager. At that time, with the help of his wife, he launched A & Z Apartments. He became and remained a staple in the Real Estate industry for more than 60 years. While real estate was his passion, he often said, "my job lets me help people, and that's what I love doing the most."

While many knew Clyde Turner as a successful businessman, a committed family man, a Deacon, an Usher, or even the life of the party, he would want to be remembered as a kind, happy, giving, God-fearing, people-loving person who loved God. He will be sorely missed, but we know that "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." (2 Corinthians 5:8)

Clyde departed this life to be present with the Lord on Saturday, December 31, 2022. He leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, his devoted wife, Joyce Turner; five children, Deborah Williams, Pamela Giles(deceased), Clyde Anthony Turner (Clivel), Bonnie Bridges (Vincent), Patrice Collins (Fulmer); seven grandchildren, five sisters, two brothers, and a host of other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

"I Am The Resurrection, And The Life: He That Believeth In Me,

Though He Were Dead, Yet Shall He Live."

John 11:25
