Our beloved mother Christine Pledger Christian was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 28, 2022. Christine was born on May 29, 1956, to the late Mr. Harold B. and Mrs. Almetta Pledger in Norfolk, VA. She was educated in the Norfolk Public School System. After completing her certification and graduating with her nursing assistant license she kickstarted a 20-year career in long-term patient care, working at Lafayette Villa Health Care and a host of private duty cases. In 2013, Christine retired from Old Dominion University, Catering Services, and spent her time shopping, decorating, remodeling her home, spoiling her grandkids, and helping others. In 1986, Christine Pledger fell in love with Larry Christian on a slow stroll in Military Circle Mall. This incredibly amazing couple had no children together, however they blended their families and raised eight beautiful children: Sherry Roberson (Late Percy Roberson), Frances Poulson (Leon Poulson), Lavonne Pledger, Late Larry Christian Jr, Stanley Christian (Roschel Davis), Archie Christian, Dorothy Young (Late Renard Young), Vernice Christian. Nephew-son Chris Pledger & Larry Carter. They shared a host of grandchildren & great-grandchildren together. What was amazing was that she never let her heart condition drag her down. She never lost her compassion, generosity, or serenity. In fact, these events made her more compassionate, generous, and wise, A stranger looking at her would never guess that she was fighting a battle of her own. She had a smile for everyone. Her generosity knew no bounds. So may the life she lived speak for her. Christine was predeceased by her husband Larry Christian, son Larry Christian Jr, Parents Mr. & Mrs. Harold B.  Pledger, Sister Jackie Pledger, Brother Harold Pledger Jr, Son-in-law Percy Roberson, Son-in-law Renard Young, and Great Grandson Taj Ahmad Heckstall Jr. She is survived by children: Sherry Roberson, Leon & Frances Poulson, Stanley Christian & Roschel Davis, Lavonne Pledger, Dorothy Young, Archie Christian, Vernice Christian, Nephew-son Chris Pledger, & Larry Christian, host of grandkids, great-grandchildren, cousins, and sister Fateema A. Whitehead. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to American Heart Association, an organization Christine felt strongly about.
