Celestine "Vicie" Beatrice Blow High, 71, took her last breath on November 3, 2015 with her loving husband by her side at their home in Chesapeake, Virginia after a six year battle with early onset Parkinson's and dementia. Born April 6th, 1944 in Courtland, Virginia, Celestine was the daugher of the late Hazel Faltz Blow and John E. Blow, Sr. After graduating from Southampton County Training School in 1962, Celeste attended Norfolk State University where she enrolled in the nursing program, eventually becoming employed as a surgical scrub nurse at DePaul Hospital (now known as Bon Secours DePaul Hospital). During her time at DePaul, she was swept off her feet by a young Navy machinist mate, Richard "from the Yard" High. They were married on November 26, 1967, after a brief courtship and quickly made South Hampton Roads their permanent home. Celeste retired from nursing and became mom to Tanya Elaine and Richard Eugene High, Jr. in 1969 and 1972. She was a dedicated Navy wife and school volunteer for over two decades before she eventually parlayed her organizational skills into co-founding Temp-A-Tech Heating and Cooling with her husband in 1983. For over 30 years, Temp-A-Tech has successfully provided HVAC services in South Hampton Roads in no small part due to the customer service Celeste was able to provide her many customers. Celeste loved bowling, gardening, baking, beating her grandchildren in a game of basketball on her backyard court, and tending her many rose bushes. She was also a proud survivor of stage four non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. In addition to her beloved husband, Rick, she is survived by her daughter, Tanya High Brooks (Douglas) of Salem, VA and her son, Richard Eugene High, Jr. (Terese) of Washington, DC; her grandchildren Cassidy Brooks, Alexander Brooks and Richard Eugene High, III; her sister, Vera Y. Blow of Courtland, VA and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and god children. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, John E Blow, Jr and Charles O Blow. Special thanks to the nurses and hospice staff were by her side during her final hard fought weeks on this earth. Family will receive friends for Celestes wake on Thursday, November 12 from 6 to 7 pm at Riddick Funeral Service 1225 Norview Ave, Norfolk, VA 23513. The funeral service will be held on Friday, November 13 at Riddick Funeral Service at 11 am. Interment will be held at 1 pm at Albert G.
