Carrie Christian Simmons 87, went home to be with the Lord early Thursday morning on June 10, 2021. She was a native of the "Blackwater" area of Virginia Beach, Virginia; the daughter of the late Deacon Leroy Christian and Deaconess Mary E. Nimmo Christian. She was the beloved wife of the late James Elvin Simmons Sr. "Tiny" as she was affectionately known was a proud member of New Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, she retired after over 30 years as a Government Employee with the Defense Department of the United States Navy in the field of Computer Technology. She was a Worthy Matron/Treasurer of the Willow Grove Beauty No.102 Order of the Eastern Star, Secretary of the Women Missionary and Educational Auxiliary of the Roanoke Missionary Baptist Association, and a recipient of many awards throughout her career. Left to cherish her precious memory are her sons James E. Simmons Jr. and Keith A. Simmons, an adopted daughter Carrie E. Felton, sister Cecelia C. Mason (William); and sisters-n-law Dorothy Christian, Ester Foye, Rosa Ford (Thomas), and Edna Parker (Wardell). She was predeceased by her husband James E. Simmons Sr., brothers Roland Sr. (Sadie), Andrew Christian (Viola), Ralph Christian; sisters, Mildred Wyatt (William Jr.), Lorraine Gallop (Charles), Margaret Christian; and sister-n-law Charity Billouin.
