IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Brandon Jamaal
Foy Jones
July 31, 1990 – November 5, 2024
On 5 November 2024, Brandon Jamaal Foy Jones passed away at home in Newport News, VA. He was 34 years old. Known by many as BJ, he was born on July 31st, 1990, to Anthony (Tony) and Valor Foy (Vickie) Jones in Hopewell, VA. He is their second child and is survived by his siblings Aaron, Cameron, and Deiona.
BJ loved all kinds of music, which was first discovered at an early age while attending Norfolk United Methodist Church every Sunday for many years. BJ was born with Cerebral Palsy, and while he was unable to walk or speak, he often made his presence known with loud noises and movements that his granny could see from the choir stand.
BJ attended Norfolk Public Schools while living in Lamberts Point with Granny and Pop (George and Nellie Foy) and his first cousins Jerai and Darai "Starr" Robins. You could always find him in the midst of "stuff" with the rest of the family, and he was the best at keeping everyone's secrets.
BJ was a "foodie" and loved spending holidays at his grandma's (Marie Jones) house in Chesapeake, particularly Christmas and Thanksgiving. The holidays were a family affair where everyone showed him love, ate good food, and he could be seen smiling while listening to the different stories being shared. Yes, he understood. In 2012, BJ graduated from Woodside High School in Newport News and began attending United & Empowered Care and Eggleston Services Day Programs. When he wasn't there, he could be seen running with his mother and sister as a member of TEAM HOYT VB in races throughout the 757 area. BJ was a night owl—often awake listening to music, watching TV shows like Martin and Living Single, and greeting his dad with a smile when he walked in the door from work.
Brandon "BJ" Jones is preceded in death by his sister LeVonda Nicole; great grandma Hattie (Grandma Candy); maternal grandparents George and Nellie Foy; paternal grandfather Nola Sampson; aunts Nellie Lorai Robins, Sharon Coles; and uncle Tyronne Foy.
He is survived by his aunts Beverly (Chris), Anna, Tonya (Larry); his uncles, Reginald (Joanne), George (Adrena), Victor; cousins Candice, Lauren, Tony, Sterling, Tina, Shannon, Geornae, Aisha, Michael, Tomeka, Darrick, Ryan, Lexis, Isaiah, Diamond, Daisah , Destiny; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Thank you to all who have helped with BJ's care for many years. The family would like to thank Andy's Barber Shop and Ronnie Clayton for caring for BJ for over 30 years and ensuring he always looked his best. While "Granny's Precious Boy" is no longer with us and our family mourns his passing, we celebrate the life he led and the lasting impact he had on our lives.
We will miss you, BJ.
