Bernard William Burke, a cherished, devoted and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a devoted friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on December 22, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on November 12, 1940, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, he lived a life characterized by kindness, generosity, welcoming warmth, and unwavering dedication to both his family and his friends.Bernard's career as an Aircraft Mechanic was marked by meticulous precision and a deep-seated commitment to excellence. His skills contributed significantly to the aviation industry, where he earned the respect of his peers and superiors alike.A proud veteran, Bernard served faithfully in the US Navy, embodying values of service, sacrifice, and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. His military service not only shaped him into the man he was but also instilled in him a sense of duty that resonated in his everyday actions.In his personal life, Bernard was a man of many interests. He was a devoted member of Rock Church in Virginia Beach, VA, for 54 years . He found joy and satisfaction in working in his yard, transforming outdoor spaces into beautiful sanctuaries. Additionally, he was a passionate car enthusiast who loved fixing cars, an activity that allowed him to channel his expertise and creativity.Bernard is survived by his loving wife, Teresita (Tessie) Burke, and their children: Coleen Cataulin Moody and Jeffrey Cataulin, daughter -in-law Cynthia Alarcon; his children Italia Mullins, and Melissa Burke Bonilla. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Michael Alarcon, Joshua Alexander Alarcon, Madison Elisabeth Alarcon and Richard Jeffrey Cataulin, Jason Wilson, and Elizabeth Wilson. Bernard is also survived by his sister Shirley Kuta and brother Raymond Burke, and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren who held a special place in his heart.Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, William Francis Burke and Margaret Anne Vrable Burke, his sister Delores Botham, his son Percival (Scott) Alarcon and his beloved grandchildren, Haley Kristen Alarcon and Michael Patrick Cataulin. Their memories will forever be cherished, and his legacy will continue to live on through his loving family. Bernard William Burke leaves behind a rich tapestry of love, friendship, and generosity that will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and dedication.
