Benjamin Ramirez left this life to return to the open arms of his creator on July 6, 2022.
Benjamin (A.K.A Benjie) was born on October 17th, 1957 in Olongapo City, Philippines. He immigrated to the United States in July 1995. Benjie has been in Norfolk for 27 years. He worked for a painting company and then for Nexcom for 18 years until his retirement. As a child, Benjie has always been a playful, optimistic person. He was the life of the party— constantly smiling and joking. Benjie loved music. In the mornings, it wasn't surprising to hear him blasting his favorite love songs on his speaker. He loved singing, often serenading his wife. He also enjoyed fixing cars. He prided himself in his ingenuity— he was a self-taught mechanic and, yet still, he was the man his family depended on to fix and maintain their vehicles. Benjie was often the guy many ran to for advice and help. Everytime he got a car running there was always a sense of achievement. More than anything, Benjie had a big heart. He had so much love to give, especially to his family. He was a kind and loving husband. And, though he was often mischievous and teasing, he was a wonderful and responsible father to his children. He had a soft-spot for his siblings, whom he loved deeply. He was also a good, loyal friend. Benjamin will be profoundly missed by many. Benjamin is survived by his wife, Wilminia; his children, Marissa, Jennifer, Benjamin Jr, Charmaine and Jasmine; his siblings, Anite, Tessie, Salvador Jr., Arcy, Johnny, Ferdie, Fernando, and David; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, grandchildren. aunts, uncles and friends.
A Poem to Commemorate Benjie
Remember Me
Remember me with smiles and tears
For all the joy and laughter's throughout the years
Recall the closeness that was ours
Our love, a melody so sweet it overpowers
what loneliness I left in your heart in my last hours
Don't dwell on thoughts that cause you pain
We'll see each other once again
I am at peace...try to believe it
It was my time...I had to leave
But "what a view" I have from here
I see your face, I feel you near
I follow you throughout the day
You're not alone along the way
And when God calls you...
You will be right by my side, right here with me
Until then I'll wait by heaven door
We'll be together ...forevermore
