IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara S.
Boyce
April 11, 1948 – March 12, 2018
Barbara Anne Stimpson Boyce was a strong fighter who fought the good fight with grace and perseverance until the Lord called her home on Monday March 12th 2018...But not before leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew and loved her. Barbara, known as, "bob" and "BB" was born in Greensboro, NC on April 11, 1948, to the late Dorothy Stimpson Ford (nee Staley) and William Lee Stimpson. She was also predeceased by a brother William "Billy" Stimpson. She was raised with love in the home of her aunt and uncle;Lee Etta Staley-Young(deceased) and John Young (deceased) in Thomasville, NC. During her youth she was a debutante and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Highpoint, NC. After high school Barbara attended North Carolina A&T and Norfolk State university in pursuit of her sociology degree so that she could fulfill her dream of being a social worker. In 1968, she married Richard A. Boyce, this union resulted in two beautiful children and one grandchild that Barbara loved with her entire heart and soul, LeMonte Boyce (son), Nicole Boyce (daughter) and Myles Boyce (grandson) all of Virginia Beach, VA. Barbara relished her role and title of "Nana" that was bestowed upon her in September 2013. She retired from her position of Executive Assistant to the Director of Admissions at Old Dominion University in 2010 after 27 years of service. In addition to her children and grandson, she is also survived by three sisters, Dorothy, Bessie and Lela all of Greensboro,NC ; three brothers, Grady, Ronald and Allen all of Greensboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Barbara was well known with her infectious smile, sense of humor, love of animals, especially her beloved dogs and her uncanny ability to be a straight shooter who would always tell it like it is. She was a kind and generous soul who would give her last dollar to someone around her in need. And long after that last dollar was gone, she would gladly give her time and be a shoulder for friends to lean on. While she will be missed, we know that she is at peace with our Lord and that we WILL see her again.
