In Loving Memory of Annie Marie Roberts
Annie (Marie) Owens Roberts was born July 20 th 1936 in Edenton, NC to Annie Bond Owens and Ullyses Owens she was the 4 th child of the 6 child born to Annie and Ullyses. She went on to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on January 29 th 2021 in Norfolk, Va..
Annie Marie graduated from Edenton High School and later moved to NYC with her siblings. She then met her husband James Willie Roberts and were married in 1961. James Willie preceded her in death in 1994. They had no children.
Annie Marie wanted to pursue her dreams of becoming a nurse. She went to school in NYC for nursing and become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked many years as a nurse in Bronx, NY hospitals. James and Annie had long developed plans to move to Norfolk together. But that was not to be since James Willie passed away before the move together could take [ace. Annie Marie decided she would continue on with the plans to move to Norfolk, where she remained until her passing. She continued working as a nurse until she became too weak to do so.
Annie Marie enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, and took many trips with her husband and family. She was a very active member of her church which she loved, Mt Gilead Missionary Baptist Church. She was on the senior choir and very active with activities in her church.
Annie Marie was the last surviving child of her parents. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband James Robert, her siblings Viola Robertson, Emma Mae Walden, George Owens, Martha Owens, Mary Elizabeth (Lizzy) Owens, Catherine Kyles, nephew Wallace Owens and niece Patricia (Peanut) Owens
Annie Marie will surely be missed by all those she leaves behind that loved her so much. To cherish her precious memory is her niece Felecia (Lisa) Owens Clark of Randolph, MA., Mrs. Cora Felton of Norfolk, Va, whom she was reared with as sisters, and a host of great nieces, nephews, plenty of cousins and friends.
