Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Anna Marie Bailey July 3, 1967 – August 14, 2026, Age 59 Charleston, South Carolina A Life of Faith, Love, Service, and Purpose Anna Marie Bailey was born on July 3, 1967, in Charleston, South Carolina. From the very beginning, Anna carried a special light within her. She was outgoing, caring, humble, forgiving, loving, welcoming, and, to so many people, simply a blessing. Anna loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with all her heart. Her faith showed in the way she treated people, served others, gave freely, and encouraged people to keep growing. She knew ministry wasn't just about standing behind a pulpit. To Anna, ministry meant showing up for people wherever they were in life. A Servant for Her Lord Anna was a true servant of God. She was deeply involved in ministry and dedicated herself to sharing the Word of God with everyone, no matter where they were in life. She believed people shouldn't be judged by their circumstances. Whether someone was homeless, shut out, struggling with addiction, hurting, confused, or simply lost, Anna believed they still deserved love, compassion, dignity, and the chance to hear the Good News. Her favorite place may have been in Praise and Worship, but her refuge was Community Outreach. Anna didn't just talk about helping the community—she showed up and did it. She organized and took part in countless outreach events. She fed the homeless, reached out to people who were struggling, cooked for those in need, catered for others without expecting anything in return, and gave her time, energy, resources, and heart freely. When Anna served, she gave it her all. You could see it on her face. She would light up. Helping people wasn't just something she did; it was part of who she was. Anna lived by the idea of giving before taking. She knew a blessing was meant to be shared. A Woman Who Knew How to Love People Anna had a special gift for listening and connecting with people. You could come to her, talk to her, and know she really heard you. She encouraged people to do better, keep going, learn from their mistakes, and become the person God called them to be. Her faith and her words were grounded in Scripture. Romans 10:17 reminded her how important it is to hear the Word of God and let faith grow through it. Anna also cared about how she carried herself around others. She wanted her life to be a testimony—not just through what she said, but through how she lived. She often thought about the responsibility of sharing the Gospel while also making sure her own life matched the message she shared. One Scripture that spoke deeply to her was: «“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”» Anna knew faith was a daily walk. She understood that everyone makes mistakes, but she also believed in growth, accountability, forgiveness, and God's power to help us become better. A Life of Work and Dedication Anna was also a hardworking and dedicated woman. She proudly served as a staff member for Norfolk Public Schools for 23 years. Twenty-three years of service means more than just holding a job. It means commitment, consistency, patience, relationships, and countless lives touched along the way. Whether she was serving at work, in ministry, with her family, or even complete strangers, Anna brought the same spirit with her: care, compassion, and a willingness to help. A Woman Who Loved Life Anna knew how to enjoy life. She valued her peace and appreciated having time to clear her mind and just be herself. She understood how important it was to find peace, even in the middle of life's challenges. She loved music, especially house music and Gospel music. She loved her family, beautiful jewelry, and dressing to the 9's. Anna had a way of showing up with style and confidence. She could walk into a room and bring her own energy with her. But underneath the style was a woman whose greatest beauty came from her heart. Anna loved to cook, especially when she was cooking for other people. Food was one of the ways she showed love. For Anna, cooking wasn't just about making a meal. It was about creating a feeling of home, comfort, and belonging. “It’s Mine.” One of the memories her sons will always carry with them is the smell of beans and rice filling the house. That smell meant more than food. It meant Anna. It meant home. No matter what she was going through, Anna had a way of making a home wherever she was. She could look around at what she had and say, “It’s Mine.” Those words said a lot about who she was. She knew how to take what life gave her and turn it into something meaningful. She made home through love. She made home through food. She made home through family. And she made home simply by being there. Her Family Anna's family meant everything to her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through everyone who knew her and everyone blessed to call her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son and daughter-in-love, along with her grandchildren: Makayla Ruffin Makaih Ruffin Love Jefferson Bailey Malaysia Roundtree Rhayne Bailey Journei Bailey Her grandchildren will carry pieces of her with them—the lessons she taught, the love she gave, the stories they heard, and the memories that will stay with them forever. Anna is also survived by her sisters: Feonia Bailey Karen Bailey Nadjia Bailey She was preceded in death by beloved family members Dora Bailey, Iesha Bailey, and Chanel Bailey. Their absence left a space that could never be filled, but Anna carried their memories with her throughout her life. The Legacy She Leaves Behind Anna's greatest legacy isn't measured by possessions, accomplishments, or years. Her legacy lives in people. It lives in the person who ate because Anna cooked. It lives in the person who felt loved because Anna took the time to listen. It lives in the person who found encouragement when they were ready to give up. It lives in the homeless person who received a meal. It lives in the person struggling with addiction who was treated with dignity. It lives in the person who felt lost but heard about Jesus. It lives in the community she served. It lives in her family. It lives in everyone who learned something from her life. Anna showed people that you can make a difference without having everything. She taught people to give before taking. She taught people to be mindful of how they carry themselves. She taught people to learn from their mistakes. She taught people that forgiveness is powerful. She taught people that serving others is a way of showing love. And most importantly, she taught people that God's love reaches people wherever they are. A Final Message From Her Life Anna Marie Bailey wasn't perfect, because she was human. But she understood that life is about continuing to grow, learn, love, and seek God's approval. Her story reminds us that our mistakes don't have to define us. Our circumstances don't have to decide our purpose. And our past doesn't have to stop us from helping someone else find their way. Anna believed in doing better. She believed in encouraging people. She believed in serving. She believed in feeding people—not just with physical food, but with the Word of God. She believed in family. She believed in community. And above all, she believed in Jesus Christ. Going Home On August 14, 2026, Anna Marie Bailey completed her earthly journey at the age of 59. Although she is no longer physically with us, the work she started continues through the people she touched. Her hands may no longer prepare the beans and rice. Her voice may no longer encourage someone to keep going. Her smile may no longer light up when she is serving the community. But her love remains. Her lessons remain. Her faith remains. Her memories remain. And her legacy remains. Today, we mourn because we loved her. But we also celebrate because Anna lived a life filled with purpose, service, faith, family, and love. She gave. She served. She encouraged. She cooked. She worshiped. She loved. She forgave. She ministered. She made a home. She made a difference. And now, she has gone home. Rest well, Anna. Your work on earth has been completed. Your seeds have been planted. Your love has been given. Your legacy will continue. And to everyone whose life Anna touched, her story leaves us with one final reminder: Keep serving. Keep loving. Keep giving. Keep encouraging. Keep believing. The best way to honor Anna Marie Bailey isn't just to remember how she lived, but to keep doing the work she believed was worth doing. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:23 Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever a blessing. Forever in our hearts.
