Allen Racfel Wood, Jr. departed this life peacefully on August 1, 2020, after a brief illness.

Allen Jr. was born on July 29, 1943, to the late Allen Sr. and Ruth Wood. He was a very intelligent, outgoing, and fun-loving personality. He was educated in the Norfolk public school system where he was recognized for his academic prowess. During his high school years at Booker T. Washington High School, he excelled in Math and Science and become a member of the National Honor Society. During his early years, Allen, Jr. also was a member of the historic First Baptist Church Bute Street. In December 1961, he married Lillie Bush and their union produced two sons. He attended Howard University and during his work career worked at the US Postal Service, Prudential Insurance Company, Lorton Reformatory and the U.S. Park Police. Allen Jr. resided in the state of Massachusetts for the last 30 years of his life where he worked various jobs.

Allen Jr. is survived by three sons, Christopher Wood, Christian aka "Toowie" Wood and Allen Hines, two grandchildren, Marlowe Wood and Christyana Wood, three sisters, Alta Booth, Beverly (Donald) Brown and Paulette (George) Privott, as well as, a host of relatives, friends, and classmates.

The family will always cherish the memory of visiting with Allen Jr. via Zoom on his 77 ^th birthday, just three days before he departed this earth, he will be greatly missed.
